In the first day of this ceremony people in different ages from youngsters to elderlies, gather to kindle fire and hold flambeau. People who live in this mountainous region, mostly wear Kurdish clothes whose colors are significantly meaningful and important. Celebrating Nowruz (Nowruz refers to the celebration of the kurd people’s new year of 2718 in Kurdish culture) in Kani meshkan village located in Kurdistan, Iran Native of this region live between the mountains and speak in Kurdish language. Annually they gather to celebrate Nowruz (new year) at the top of a mountain which is located Around of the village. In this ceremony folk usually wear Kurdish clothes and dance around the fire which they have inflamed as a sample of Nowruz with firewood that they had collected during previous year. For inflaming fire, some of the youth with leadership of girls and women go forward and kindle the fire (Fire is a sample of purity). Thousand of people all around Kurdistan or even another cities, gather in this beautiful village to celebrate new year and show their union. Here you can see a grandma and her grandchild watching “Nowruz” ceremony. Due to religious issues, the grandma is wearing dark and muted colors however the grandchild is wearing worn brightly colored and traditional dress. In fact Kurdish dress code reflects Kurdish culture and Kurdish clothing differs from men to women as well as from country to country. Some say that you can tell which area a Kurd is from by looking at his or her clothes. A traditional dress for women in Kurdistan consists of very colorful clothing.

A woman from Howraman Takht (village located in Kurdistan, Iran) “Howraman” located on the top of a mountain and with every snowfall in winters, it would be secluded for several days and people can not leave the village. In winters the weather get so cold and it continues to other seasons too (you can see that, there is snow on the peak of the mountains in spring). the woman in the picture has left her house for tacking out the garbage.
